To all students: Discipline

Discipline is never a sweet thing. Be it to the parents, teachers, elders who administer them, and also to those who are being disciplined. Initially, the person will feel upset, angry and wonder why he/she is being disciplined. But if the person can understand the reason and rationale behind it, he will realise that the discipline is for his/her own good.

No one likes to mete out punishments, but think about it, if we are not disciplined, we will never learn or mould our character in life. How do we handle punishments? Do we take it lightly? Do we think that the person meting out is simply doing it out of enjoyment? Of course, some people do derive their sense of pleasure from it. But i would say that most teachers make a point to discipline so that their students can learn to be serious and attentive in class. After all, we wouldn't want other students to be affected from distractions, and thus at times, students have to be thrown out of classrooms, items need to be confiscated and so on and so forth.

What is the responsibility of students? Is it to come to school and make a nuisance of himself? No! The main purpose is to get a good education, not just head knowledge but also to grow in character, and that is why there are school rules to be adhered to. As teenagers, you know what is right and wrong, but more often than not, you choose to do the wrong things despite knowing what's right. There is a need to learn to be sensible and realise the consequence of your actions. What are you going to do with your lives? To waste it away? Make good use of your time, do yourself proud and make teachers think differently of you. Which teacher would ever want to daily lash out at students and punish them? Its very time consuming and does not make life any more enjoyable.

I do hope students can learn to do the right way and to keep doing the right thing. Learn to be sensible and not make your parents, friends, teachers, and elders feel sad and always worried about you.
